Jardim Karaíba
The “Jardim Karaíba” project, located in the southern city of Uberlândia, was conceived in 1980 with the objective of meeting the needs of a middle class that had no options of neighborhoods with special features.
The biggest concern at the time was to develop an urban project that offered the middle class of the time an excellent “lifestyle” in line with its purchasing power. This goal was achieved with the use of land with smaller, better planned divisions, and with the definition of strict rules of occupancy to maintain the characteristics of the proposed urban design.
The highlight of the project was placing green areas in front of the houses for the residents to enjoy, which also took care of the legal requirement for shared open spaces. This relieved the council of the burden of caring for a square that is not always used by the residents of the neighborhood due to its distance from the houses.
Notably, these green areas were placed in front of the sections with the city of Uberlândia to the rear. The demand at the time was for properties that faced the city and it was considered a big challenge to make a real estate development overlooking a “savannah forest.”
Indeed the success of the enterprise “Jardim Karaíba” was due to the quality of urban design, as well as a landscape project that planted trees along the streets to divide the properties.
